Piles Injection Treatment – Reserved for Very Early Stages Only

At Piles and Fistula Care Centre, we believe in safe, effective, and long-lasting treatments for piles. While there are various treatment options available, piles injection therapy (sclerotherapy) is reserved only for very early stages of piles (Grade I or early Grade II). We do not promote piles injection as a preferred treatment due to its high chance of recurrence and limited effectiveness in advanced cases.

What is Piles Injection (Sclerotherapy)?

Piles injection, also known as sclerotherapy, involves injecting a chemical solution into the hemorrhoidal tissue to shrink it by causing scarring of the veins supplying blood to the piles. The most commonly used agents include polidocanol, zinc chloride, and quinine-based solutions.

When is Piles Injection Used?

  • Suitable only for early-stage internal piles with minimal prolapse

  • Recommended for patients experiencing bleeding but without significant symptoms like prolapse or severe pain

  • Not advised for advanced piles (Grade III and IV) or external piles

Limitations and Risks

  • High chances of piles recurrence after treatment

  • May require multiple sessions for effective symptom relief

  • Does not address the root causes of piles such as constipation or lifestyle factors

  • Less effective for piles with large prolapse, thrombosis, or external hemorrhoids

Our Approach to Piles Injection

  • We offer piles injection only as a last resort for suitable early-stage cases if patients seek minimally invasive treatment

  • Patients are thoroughly informed about the risks of recurrence and limitations before opting for injection

  • We emphasize Ayurvedic holistic care including medicines, diet, and lifestyle modifications as the primary treatment

  • Injection is not a substitute for proper management but can be considered as a temporary relief option

Why Choose Ayurvedic Non-Surgical Treatments Instead?

  • Ayurvedic treatments like Kshar Karma, herbal medicines, and Kshar Sutra address piles at the root cause

  • These therapies promote permanent healing and prevent recurrence

  • Provide complete symptomatic relief without the risks associated with injections or surgery

Piles injection treatment is a popular measure for piles management. Piles are enlarged veins in the anal region. It may cause bleeding if injured because of hard stools. Injection treatment, technically known as sclerotherapy, is the process of injecting chemical agents in the piles itself that may help in reducing the size of piles and stopping bleeding. As per size, the piles may be of four grades – Grade 1, Grade 2, Grade 3, and Grade 4. 1st-grade piles are the smallest, and 4th-grade piles are the largest. Injection treatment is useful only in 1st and 2nd-grade of piles or hemorrhoids.

Injection treatment is of no use in the treatment of fissures, fistula, pilonidal sinus, and advanced stages of piles. In these cases, the best treatment modality is kshar sutra.

Piles injection treatment, also called sclerotherapy, involves injecting a chemical solution into the piles to shrink swollen veins. It is a minimally invasive procedure mostly used for early-stage internal piles to reduce bleeding, pain, and swelling.

The procedure is done without anesthesia and takes only a few minutes. A proctoscope is inserted into the anus to view the piles, and the doctor injects a chemical sclerosant into the affected veins, causing them to shrink by forming scar tissue.

This treatment is painless, quick, and requires no hospitalization. It offers a fast recovery, minimal complications, no cuts or scars, and is effective especially for mild to moderate piles.

Temporary pain, swelling, itching, or minor bleeding can occur. Rarely, more serious issues like infection or allergic reactions may happen. Most side effects resolve quickly with simple care or pain relief.
